Finding Longwood

Longwood University is located in historic Farmville, VA, accessible to Richmond, Charlottesville, Lynchburg, and other popular Virginia localities.  Visitors from Charlottesville will from the north (green arrow); visitors from all points of origin will arrive from the south (blue arrow).

 

Richmond (blue arrow)

Take Powhite Parkway to Route 288 (Chesterfield/Amelia), follow Route 288, exit onto U.S. 360 West. Take 360 West approximately 35 miles to State Route 307, take Route 307 for 9 miles to U.S. 460 West. Exit 460 at the second Farmville exit (Business U.S. 15 North), and continue approximately 1.5 miles.  At the traffic light near Burger King, turn left onto Griffin Boulevard.  Proceed approximately ½ mile, then turn right onto Vine Street.  Follow Vine St. one block across Race to the parking lot outside the music building (Wygal Hall).

Northern Virginia/Washington, DC (blue arrow)

Take I-95 South to Powhite Parkway (Exit 79).   Then take Powhite Parkway to Route 288 (Chesterfield/Amelia), follow Route 288, exit onto U.S. 360 West. Charlottesville (green arrow)

Take Route 20 South to U.S. 15 South; follow U.S. 15 South to Farmville; turn left onto Business 15/460 at stop light (Executive Inn); proceed several miles and turn right onto Business 15 (Oak Street) at Southside Community Hospital. At traffic light, turn left onto High Street and make an immediate right onto Griffen Boulevard. Proceed several blocks to Vine Street – take a left and follow for one block. After crossing Race Street, you will be at Wygal Hall.

Danville (blue arrow)

Follow U.S. 58 to South Boston; take Route 304 to U.S. 360/15; continue on U.S. 15 North to Farmville.  At the traffic light near Burger King, turn left onto Griffin Boulevard.  Proceed approximately ½ mile, then turn right onto Vine Street.  Follow Vine St. one block across Race to the parking lot outside the music building (Wygal Hall).

 

Hampton/Newport News (blue arrow)

Take I-64 West to I-95 South, turn onto the downtown expressway (Route 195); take the expressway to the Powhite Parkway (Route 76); take Powhite Parkway to Route 288 (Chesterfield/Amelia), follow Route 288, exit onto U.S. 360 West. Take 360 West approximately 35 miles to State Route 307, take Route 307 for 9 miles to U.S. 460 West. Exit 460 at the second Farmville exit (Business U.S. 15 North), and continue approximately 1.5 miles.  At the traffic light near Burger King, turn left onto Griffin Boulevard.  Proceed approximately ½ mile, then turn right onto Vine Street.  Follow Vine St. one block across Race to the parking lot outside the music building (Wygal Hall).

Lynchburg/Roanoke (blue arrow)

Take U.S. 460 East into Farmville. Exit 460 at the second Farmville exit (Business U.S. 15 North), and continue approximately 1.5 miles.  At the traffic light near Burger King, turn left onto Griffin Boulevard.  Proceed approximately ½ mile, then turn right onto Vine Street.  Follow Vine St. one block across Race to the parking lot outside the music building (Wygal Hall)

Norfolk/Virginia Beach (blue arrow)

Take I-64 West to Richmond and follow the Richmond directions or take U.S. 460 West to Farmville. Exit 460 at the second Farmville exit (Business U.S. 15 North), and continue approximately 1.5 miles. At the traffic light near Burger King, turn left onto Griffin Boulevard. Proceed approximately ½ mile, then turn right onto Vine Street. Follow Vine St. one block across Race to the parking lot outside the music building (Wygal Hall).

Raleigh-Durham Airport (blue arrow)

Follow I-40 West towards Durham/Chapel Hill. Take the NC-147 North exit, exit number 279 B, towards Durham/Downtown. Follow 147 North to I-85 North. Follow I-85 North to US Route 15 North (Oxford exit). Follow 15 North to Farmville. At the traffic light near Burger King, turn left onto Griffin Boulevard. Proceed approximately ½ mile, then turn right onto Vine Street. Follow Vine St. one block across Race to the parking lot outside the music building (Wygal Hall).

Wygal Hall (red dot), home of the Music Department, is located at the intersection of Vine and Race.  Follow the directions above to arrive in town via the green arrow (if coming from Charlottesville) or the blue arrow (all other points of origin).
